COLFUTURO 2015 - page 19

Negotiate and follow up agreements with
universities and institutions that offer the
best opportunities to outstanding Colombian
professionals.
Participate in international education fairs,
talks and events in order to raise awareness
about the work COLFUTURO does, and improve
opportunities for studying abroad.
Languages Program
COLFUTURO, through the Language Program, offers
the necessary logistical support to undergraduate
students and professionals who wish to improve
their language skills. Since its inception in 1996,
the Foundation has supported 1,780 students via
agreements with universities in the United States, the
United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and France.
This year the Program once again widened its
academic offering in terms of languages by including
three distinguished universities in New Zealand for
English teaching. The universities of Auckland, Lincoln
and Otago offer students an ideal destination, given
the high academic standard, student protection,
safety and quality of life.
To encourage academic excellence, in 2013 the
Language Program awarded ten tuition scholarships
at the University of Delaware in the United States
and East Anglia in the United Kingdom to students
in the Talent Recruitment Program and outstanding
professionals. In the first half of 2014, nine
scholarships were awarded in initiatives such as the
Talent Recruitment Program, the partnership with
Fincomercio and the COLFUTURO Trivia Competition.
Networking and Employment
Program
The Networking and Employment Program supports
the beneficiaries of COLFUTURO’s Loan-Scholarship
Program on their return to Colombia in two ways:
1) in terms of their career project, and 2) by
creating closer ties and work networks among the
beneficiaries and organizations or decision makers.
Our support insofar as the returning beneficiaries’
career projects includes:
Supporting their definition of an individual
strategy of successful professional education
and training.
Articulation of instruments that will allow them
to take advantage of better work options.
Development of key tools and skills in job hunting,
such as resume writing and interview technique.
For the past year, the program has implemented
networking sessions in different topics and disciplines,
in order to create closer ties and work networks:
Some of the sessions focus on helping the
beneficiaries get to know each other and
exchange ideas and interests.
In others, we have invited guests to give talks
and conferences.
We also seek to establish strategic alliances with
organizations and decision makers in order to foster
initiatives that will help the beneficiaries with their
work, entrepreneurial, and other types of projects.
